Research Question: Should teachers use technology in the classroom?

My answer to this question always has been positive. In todays globalization world’s, technology has changed and improved. It emerged with our Daily life. Living without technology is almost impossible. If technology became so common, why do teachers insist on not to use technology?
I chose this topic, because todays technology is really impressing and it can be used for education also. As future teachers, we should adapt ourselves to the further education system. Education is also changing like technology. For example, in Turkey, compulsory schooling was eight years, but now it becomes twelve years. In the past,  traditional methods were more dominant than todays’. We should follow the new World new technology. If we cannot keep up with the times,  we cannot accomplish our due.
As teachers,  one of our responsibilities is making students feel comfortable in classroom in order to get their attention and start the learning process. If we use the technology,  we manage it easily. Technology helps us.
For example,  if we look at the first pattern of the Gagne’s teaching model,  we will see the importance of the attention. The teacher should take students’ attention to teach something. In order to do it, they should use some technological items such as videos, visuals, interesting websites. Thanks to technology, teacher can take students’ attention easily, because students like technology.
All in, of course, still there are some teachers who think that technology is far from instruction, but I am not one of them. I believe that all teachers should adapt themselves to the todays educational needs.

My Teaching Philosophy

My Teaching Philosophy
MY PERSONAL PROFİLE
My name is Güzin Ulaşan. I am second year student from EFL department. I am from Antalya. This is my third year in Metu NCC. I like Cyprus because of its friendly and helpful locals. There is almost unlimited sunshine here. I have lots of chance to spend my day efficiently. For example, Mondays and Thursdays , I am attending art workshops and I think it is peaceful. Also I like doing sports, such as playing volleyball and tennis.
Let I mention about my past. I was studying  Alanya teacher training high school. When I was in high school, I interested in playing an instrument. I chose the violin, but I didn’t  take much time. Because of university enterance exam, I paused learning to play violin. In time, I almost forgot how to play violin.
Finally, my future, I hope to continue playing the violin. Also my intention is taking my master degree. If I have a chance, I would like tol ive abroad in order to have better life standard.

MY PERSONAL STATEMENT
Why do I want to be a teacher? I want to be a teacher because I love children. Also, when I was in teacher training high school, I took some classes which are related to education and I liked them. So I decided to be a teacher.
Last spring semester, I had an experience with “Orientation Leader Project” in METU NCC. I was one of the leaders. My duty was helping students during the dormitory registration days and maket hem feel more comfortable in their new school. I really enjoyed being a leader and dealing their problems.
My expectation about this year is improving my point of view about teaching and learning and of course my relationship with technology.

By the time I graduate, my goal is being a teacher who renews oneself.
